With Alessandro Polita unable to ride after surgery to his shoulder, Team Celani Suzuki has decided to engage Steve Martin for the forthcoming Eurospeedway Lausitz race in the World Superbike Championship.
The Australian, who has already ridden for Honda in SBK and for Yamaha in SBK and WSS this year, will now find himself on a Suzuki for the German round of the championship.
The agreement is a one-race deal at the moment but will depend on the condition of Polita. If the Italian is not able to ride again before the end of the season, Martin could ride for Celani for the remaining three rounds of the championship if a deal can be struck.
Steve said, "I am excited to ride for Team Celani on their GSXR 1000 because I am sure it wil be alot of fun and a great experience. I normally do well at Eurospeedway so can't wait to throw my leg over the bike on Friday. I have ridden a few different bikes this year and haven't taken long to adapt to them so hopefully this weekend will be the same. It's been 10 years since I raced a Suzuki but have alot of great memories so bring it on...."
